Tamino
Christoph Strehl was born in Lübeck where he first became acquainted with the music from Schütz to Distler while he was singing with a boy’s treble voice in the famous choir, the „Lübecker Sing- und Spielkreis“.

He began his singing studies after his graduation from school at the Folkwang University of Essen with Soto Papulkas and attended masterclasses of Josef Metternich and Norman Shetler.
 After the starting years of his career he performed on various theatre stages all over Germany at last at the National Theatre in Mannheim when he became engaged by Alexander Pereira to the Opera of Zurich (2002 - 2011) where he started his international career. Since 2011 Christoph Strehl is a member of the opera of Dortmund (director: Jens-Daniel Herzog).

After various guest performances e.g. in Munich, Dresden, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt. Christoph Strehl had also engagements to Paris (Garnier), to Venice (Teatro Malibran),to Helsinki,to Reggio Emilia, Ferrara and Baden-Baden,as well as to the Festival of Salzburg (Ottavio 2003, Belmonte 2004, Ferrando 2005), the "Wiener Festwochen" (Tamino 2006), the Festival of Aix-en-Provence (Belmonte 2007), and the Festival of Lucerne (Jaquino 2010)  

Since 2006 Christoph Strehl made his debut as Tamino at the "MET"
(2006),at the "Wiener Staatsoper" (2007) and at the Royal Oper House Covent Garden, London (2008). In 2007 he made his debut at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence as Belmonte and as Don Ottavio 2008 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and 2011 at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam.

He works together with the conductors Claudio Abbado ("The Magic Flute" published as CD-production;
Deutsche Grammophon), Nikolaus Harnancourt, James Levine, William Christie, Franz Welser-Möst, Adam Fischer, Marc Minkowski, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Julia Jones, Ivor Bolton and Semyon Bychkov as well as with the producers Jürgen Flimm, Martin Kušej, Ursel and Karl-Ernst Herrmann, Tobias Moretti, David Pountney, Claus Guth, Christof Loy, Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Guy Joosten, Michael Sturminger, Jens-Daniel Herzog, Sven-Eric Bechtolf and Stefan Herheim.  

In the future Christoph Strehl will perform in the productions of 
"L`Eliogabalo" and "La Boheme"in Dortmund and "Le convienze ed inconvenienze teatrali" in Zurich.

"Die Schöpfung", "La Finta Giardiniera",
"Die Entführung aus dem Serail", "The Magic Flute", "Fierrabras",  “"Les Indes Galantes"”, “"Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and “"Fidelio" are already published as DVD-productions.
